"shallow pot" or a "pan-style pot" is wider than it is tall, these pots are designed to provide ample space for the orchid's roots to spread out horizontally rather than grow deep into the soil.  They are ideal for orchids with shallow root systems or those that prefer a wider planting area.

"hochoutai yori habaitai hachi" (放長体より幅体鉢).  This term conveys the idea that the pot is broader in width compared to its height in relation to the orchid plant.
