As an artistic person, I’ve loved everything creative. As a plant lover, I love everything green. My name is Wayne Malleau, and in 2017 I found my ancestral Zen in pottery.
As a child growing up in a city, I cherished the moments in the garden with my parents, growing our own food. In 1991, walking the streets of China Town, I became fascinated with the these little trees in pots. My fascination for these tiny trees in pots grew and grew stronger over time. As I learnt the art of bonsai, the need for finding the perfect pot for the perfect tree became an obsession.
Pottery started for me in an East York Pottery Studio called Studio on the Hill. Creating unique and customized pots for my Bonsai. It was the beginning of the fusion of my two passions.
During challenging times, pottery has gotten me through the worse of times. It has been a constant reminder to be mindful in my life. My pursuit to living my best life, to stay balanced and to do what I love
My focus is to assure the quality and details of each piece, whether using the pottery wheel, molds, slab built or hand formed. My style goes through a constant flux, from ancient techniques, to classic looks with contemporary glazes. Ancient potters believed that every pot created, you leave a piece of your soul.
